In the film The Late Great Planet Earth, these texts are interpreted in such a way that it is assumed human civilization is indeed nearing its end. Events taking place now are signs and are linked to these ancient predictions, and they will continue to come true in the present day—ultimately resulting in the end of the world. This 'documentary' bases this doomsday scenario on the ideas found in the widely sold and read book The Late Great Planet Earth from the 1970s by doomsayer and writer Hal Lindsey.
