The Great Escape: The Reckoning plot

The story of the famous escape attempt by 78 Allied pilots in World War II, and the subsequent reprisals. In March 1944, 76 Allied pilots escaped from Stalag Luft III, a prison camp in central Germany. Their story was made famous by the movie 'The Great Escape' (1963), starring Steve McQueen and Richard Attenborough. But the dramatic sequel to their escape is much less known: 73 of the 76 pilots were recaptured and 50 of them were murdered by the Gestapo on the orders of a vengeful Hitler.
