The Dream of Shahrazad plot

"Life begins with a story..."

Residents of Turkey, Egypt and Lebanon are dealing with the recent political turmoil by telling stories, following the tradition of Sheherazade in the fairy tales of One Thousand and One Nights. For example, an inspired Turkish conductor uses the performance of the music piece Sheherazade by composer Nikolai Rimsky-Korsakov to spread political awareness, theater makers convince an Egyptian woman to let them take the story about her murdered son as the starting point for a performance and a woman Lebanon an activist blog. The filmmaker investigates how music and storytelling play a role as a political-social outlet.
