The Distance between Me and Me plot

Poet, musician, intellectual and convinced communist: the Romanian Nina Cassian is it all. For decades she has struggled with a contradiction in her life: to reconcile her artistic ideals with the strict censorship of the communist government in Romania. Because of her work and ideas, she has regularly been in conflict with the totalitarian regime of Ceaușescu, which ultimately led to her exile. By interweaving archive footage in interviews, this documentary attempts to shed light on the complex relationship between art, politics and personal values.
