The Defector: Escape from North Korea plot

Every year, many people from North Korea try to flee to China. Not everyone makes it across, and those who do are not safe yet: China does not recognize North Korean refugees. Anyone caught will be extradited to North Korea. So they have to move on. And then there's Dragon. Once a defector himself, he now mediates between refugees and people smugglers who guide them to Thailand via the Chinese provinces and Laos. There is also a constant danger of getting caught in this journey. The documentary follows two North Korean defectors and their broker Dragon with a hidden camera.
