The Dancing Boys of Afghanistan plot

For this revealing documentary, the makers went in search of backrooms in Afghanistan where boys of about twelve years old dance for the men present, like belly dancers do. Dancing in public or in bars is prohibited for women in Afghanistan. And so are the scenes with the dancing boys, especially because after the parties one of the men always takes such a boy home. The boys are often victims of violence and even risk being killed. It is striking how candid many men talk about their excesses with the boys. As if it is normal, people talk about the 'owner' of a dancing boy. They often claim that they only have sex with the boys if they want it. The boys themselves also have their say. Some are proud to be the best dancer in their village...
