The Chinese Lives of Uli Sigg plot

Intimate sketch of the life of the sometimes inscrutable entrepreneur, diplomat and art collector Uli Sigg. Owner of the very first joint venture between a Western and a Chinese company, Uli Sigg was deeply involved in the reform of the Chinese economy in the early 1980s. Later, when he had been appointed ambassador to Switzerland, he began to delve into contemporary Chinese art. And to collect: he has now purchased more than two thousand works by, among others, Ai Weiwei, Feng Lijun and Wang Guangyi. Today, he is regarded as the foremost connoisseur of contemporary Chinese art, whose know-how is used by, for example, Art Basel, Tate Gallery and MoMa. He once promised to return all that art to China; Museum M+ will open in Hong Kong in 2019, filled with his collection.
