On July 23, 2007, ex-cons Steven Hayes and Joshua Komisarjevsky broke into Dr. William Petit's Cheshire home. The two tied up the doctor, his wife Jennifer and their daughters Michaela (11) and Hayley (17) as they ransacked the house. The raiding and beating of their hostages lasted all night and only ended the next morning with rape, arson and a gruesome triple murder.
