The Bulyanhulu Case plot
Many thousands of local miners were forcibly evicted from the Bulyanhulu gold mining area in northwestern Tanzania in 1996. Dozens of them are reportedly buried alive in the mine shafts, by bulldozers from the Kahama Mining Corporation. This documentary reconstructs the events on the basis of interviews with those involved. Journalist Stan van Houcke and filmmaker Mattias Yistra filmed over a period of two years in the Netherlands, the US and Tanzania. During the shooting, Tanzanian authorities expelled western investigators after speaking with survivors.
