The Banality of Grief plot

In this film, the director shows how events from his personal life have a major influence on his work. While visiting familiar and new places and filming all kinds of people, including American teenagers and an old Hopi man, he shares his memories and thoughts with us in voice-over and also addresses his late wife Madeleine. In this way this sometimes sober-philosophical, sometimes poetic, moving wandering develops into a special form of mourning.
