The Archivettes plot

"Our history disappeared as quickly as we made it." With that realization, Deborah Edel and Joan Nestle co-founded the Lesbian Herstory Archives, the world's largest collection of materials by and about lesbians. For over 40 years, the volunteer organization has literally rescued its history from the trash. Now the founders are in their mid-seventies and the group faces a number of challenges: a leadership transfer, the rise of digital technology, and a renewed call for activism.
