The Arbor plot
"A Documentary Re-Invented"
The English playwright Andrea Dunbar made her debut at the age of fifteen and died at the age of twenty-seven. Her pieces were about the same environment she was raised in. She grew up in a poor working class neighborhood and had three children by three different men. To remove the dividing line between her work and her life, in this documentary sound recordings of the people around her are lipsyncted by actors. This is interspersed with fragments of her first play 'The Arbor', performed in the streets where it takes place.
