The Anthrax Attacks plot

A few days after the deadly attacks on September 11, 2001, panic was sparked in the United States as letters containing deadly traces of anthrax were distributed. An investigation into this was launched by the FBI. This FBI case, dubbed 'Amerithrax', is revealed in this documentary.

On October 5, 2001, less than a month after 9/11, American photojournalist Robert Stevens died as a result of inhaling a bacterium that causes anthrax. A few days later, it emerged that the bacterium had been spread via mail, causing national unrest, not least among postal workers and deliverers. With the help of scientists, involved police officers, and actors reenacting key scenes, Krauss reconstructs both the panic that ensued and the difficulties in the search for conclusive evidence to prosecute someone. The case was not closed until 2008. This period would have had a much greater impact without 9/11 and is more than worth the extra attention.
