Tajiri's Labyrinth plot
The Dutch-based artist Tajiri was born in 1923 in Los Angeles, California. Despite enlisting in the United States Army during World War II, his Japanese background and appearance never made him feel welcome in the United States. He then ended up in the Netherlands via Paris. His work clearly shows the traces of war machines, although he was disappointed when young people regarded it as a weapon glorification. He started making knots, in all kinds of materials. In the film he visits his contemporary Karel Appel, as well as the place where he was wounded in the war.
