Surfwise plot
"Reject normal."
Dorian 'Doc' Paskowitz is convinced that the education and development of a child does not necessarily take place in school. School is a place where you gain knowledge, but you can't get wisdom there, you only get it through life itself. Surfwise tells the story of this special family. He popularized surfing in Israel in the 1950s, and later traveled with his wife and 9 children in a small campervan across the US, from one beach to another. The family lived a free-spirited and eccentric existence, envied by some and reviled by others. In the film, Dorian and his wife and children look back on this special time. Then it turns out that the image that the photos give of tanned, muscular bodies and sun-drenched beaches also had a dark side, with a domineering father who held his family in an iron grip.
