Sur le Fil du Zénith plot
She has the first name of a Biblical saint and the last name of a French ancestor, but the family history of filmmaker Natyvel Pontalier actually goes back much further than that. In her film On the Zenith's Edge, she dives into the culture of her Gabonese ancestors, which centuries ago had to give way to that of Christian settlers. “Who were we before we were discovered?” That's one of the things Pontalier wonders aloud in her accompanying voice-over. While images of Gabonese jungles and villages calmly pass by, accompanied by a soothing sound backdrop of crickets, the filmmaker reminisces about her family.
