Strijd voor de Toekomst van Myanmar plot

In late 2011, world-renowned opposition leader Aun San Suu Kyi was released after decades of house arrest. The first free elections followed in April 2012. This unexpected new freedom also allowed an old feud between the Buddhist majority and the Muslim minority to flare up. First of all in Western Myanmar, where Bengali Muslims and a Buddhist ethnic minority have been fighting each other since the beginning of the last century. But in 2013, violence against Muslims spread across the country.
