Sonderauftrag Führermuseum plot

A year and a half before the start of the Second World War, Adolf Hitler had the megalomaniac idea to establish the largest art center in Europe in his native town of Linz. Partly because of this, the war degenerated into the largest art theft of all time. The cultural treasures of the occupied countries were completely plundered. And once the tide of war had turned, Stalin did in fact exactly the same thing: he had countless works of art from German collections brought east. The Western Allies did their best to limit the damage. This historical documentary focuses on the story of the many wanderings that made an exceptional European masterpiece in just a few years of war: the Ghent Altar by Van Eyck.
