Solitary plot

"Inside Red Onion State Prison"

Can you lock someone in a bathroom for ten years? In the United States, yes, because that's basically what happens at Red Onion State Prison, a "supermax" prison in the Appalachian Mountains in Virginia, where convicts are locked up for 23 hours a day in two-and-a-half by ten-foot isolation cells. Kristi Jacobson was allowed to film for a year in this environment, where journalists are normally refused. It is a place where prisoners are chained hand and foot outside their cells and are aired in steel cages. It's not all murderers who are here, even an armed robbery can already land you here.
