Sketches of Siberia plot
In 1913, polar explorer Fridtjof Nansen took part in an expedition to establish a trade route, from Norway, through the Arctic sea to the interior of Siberia. He managed to sail through the mighty Yenisei River to Krasnoyarsk, a city in southern Siberia. His diary texts, supplemented with photos of the local residents, form a fascinating reading, in which he sees many similarities with the colonization of America. Sketches of Siberia is a cinematic, associative documentary in the form of a road/boat movie in which elements from the past and present of Siberia are visualized.
