Simple Minds: Everything Is Possible plot

"The inspirational story of how a group of working-class kids growing up in post-industrial Glasgow dared to dream. Those kids became Simple Minds, the most iconic and influential Scottish band in history."

It seems as if the Simple Minds appeared out of nowhere 45 years ago. Hundreds of songs and thousands of performances later, it is clear that the enduring friendship between Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill is the driving force behind the success. The two met in Glasgow in 1967 and have not left each other's sides since. This is the story of a (now mainstream) new wave band with never-before-seen images from the members' family archives.

Like many of the great bands and musical artists who made it big in the '80s, the founders of Scottish rock band Simple Minds were inspired by David Bowie's TOTP performance, the electronic music of Kraftwerk and so-called punk rock. In this documentary, Jim Kerr and Charlie Burchill look back on their childhood years in Glasgow, the long road their idiosyncratic band took before their international breakthrough with “Don't You [Forget About Me]” and how they managed to stay afloat when things went downhill. went with their popularity and status. Dave Gahan (Depeche Mode), Bob Geldof (The Boomtown Rats) and producers Trevor Horn and Jimmy Iovine make welcome contributions, but the absence of keyboard player Mick MacNeil and bassist Derek Forbes is a shame. Furthermore, this is an extremely solid, but conventional musical documentary.
