Silverback plot

Award-winning wildlife cameraman Vianet Djenguet has had a lifelong ambition to embed himself with a family of wild gorillas. Growing up in Congo surrounded by these unique animals, he heard stories of encounters with humans. However, Vianet always wanted to know if the myths and legends surrounding them were true. He always felt that the only way to do this was to truly immerse himself in their habitat and way of life. This documentary follows Vianet Djenguet on a grueling but crucial mission to care for a notoriously protective 250-pound (113kg) silverback in a last-ditch effort to save the critically endangered eastern lowland gorillas from extinction.
