Shadows plot
The stories of Eitan, Yigal and Miri make it clear how long the shadows of the past can be. Their parents were mistreated and abused by the Nazis and came out of World War II as victims. But gradually they turned into perpetrators themselves. Fear and sadness were unwittingly turned into aggression and anger towards their children. Never before have children of Holocaust victims talked so openly about the mental and physical suffering they endured. The grandchildren, in turn, also seem to suffer from the grief and pain that their damaged parents were saddled with. Attempts by the children to talk about the past, such as Eitan with his critically ill mother and Miri with her son, seem to be unsuccessful.
