Sergej in der Urne plot
Charismatic, unsteady, egocentric and almost forgotten... Sergei Tschachotin (1883-1973), like the times he so well personified, is a difficult man to describe and above all to understand. He was a scientist of great reputation, a friend of both Pavlov and Einstein, a revolutionary and pacifist and a staunch opponent of fascism. His private life was also special, he had five marriages and eight sons. Four of his sons, who live at a great distance from each other, tell the life story of their father. Looking back on the period between the Russian Revolution and the beginning of the 21st century, his grandson, director Boris Hars-Tschachotin, examines how their individual lives were intertwined. As during his life, the road his urn traveled was restless and took unexpected turns. During filming, Boris Sergej found the urn in the living room of his great-uncle Eugen.
