Satchmo the Great plot
In the fall of 1955, the great jazz artist Louis 'Satchmo' Armstrong and his All Stars are followed in the final phase of their triumphant European tour. After performing in many major cities, the company flies to Zurich, where they receive a big welcome from a local band at the airport and then perform on the runway. In Paris, after three fully booked weeks of performances to a wildly enthusiastic audience at the Olympia Theater, Louis visits a nightclub and plays with the group of the clarinetist Claude Luter. After the nightclub closes, Louis talks to journalist Edward R. Murrow about his tour, the origins and terminology of jazz, and his early days in New Orleans.
