Salla: Selling the Silence plot

In Northern Finland, near the border with Russia, lies the village of Salla. Filmmaker Markku Tuurna drives to this hamlet in Lapland on a dark evening to visit his friend Jyrki Kuukkanen. They are going to bury Jyrki's dog, which has been in the freezer since winter; only now is the ground soft enough for a grave. As childhood friends, Markku and Jyrki have endlessly enjoyed the skiing, sledding and fishing opportunities in the vast nature reserve, as Tuurna shows through the old 8mm family films.
