Roy Rogers, King of the Cowboys plot

In the 1950s, the American singing cowboy Roy Rogers was the great hero of the silver screen, also in the Netherlands. His films had regular ingredients: the leading lady Dale Evans (Mrs. Rogers), the horse Trigger - the most handsome of all movie horses - and a side-kick for the comedic moments: George Gabby Hayes or Smiley Burnette. In 'Roy Rogers, King of the Cowboys', Ockersen goes in search of his idol of yesteryear. That journey takes him first to the contemporary glamor of Hollywood where the western is experiencing a revival.
