Rien Que les Heures plot
An early example of the avant-garde documentary genre of the 'urban symphony', a visual poem with no focus on story. Still, Cavalcanti focuses on characters. He doesn't want to show any pomp and circumstance, but focuses his camera on rats in the gutter, a stray cat, a drunk woman on her way home, a group of bums and a streetwalker. From early morning to late hours they get through life and make the city what it is.
