Retour en Normandie plot
This film is actually based on another film, that of director René Allio, shot in Normandy in 1975. The film, "Moi, Pierre Rivière, ayant égorgé ma mère, ma soeur et mon frère..." (I, Pierre Rivière, slit my mother, my sister and my brother... Nicolas Philibert was 24 years old when René Allio asked him to be his assistant on set. Shooting continued just a few miles from where the triple murder took place 140 years ago. The movie was going to be something very special. The roles were performed by the farmers of the region. In 2007 Philibert returns to Normandy to meet these "actors" from thirty years ago.
