It is June 2015, 39 days before the premiere of Benjamin Millepied's first choreography for the Opéra National de Paris. He has just received Nico Muhly's composition and is trying out the first steps. The days are counting down relentlessly. After twenty years in the United States as a soloist with the New York City Ballet, Benjamin Millepied has been appointed artistic director of the ballet company of the venerable Parisian institution. For his dance piece "Clear, Loud, Bright, Forward" he has selected sixteen young dancers to whom he tells that technique is only a means of expression and emotion.
