Rejoice and Shout plot

"A documentary on Gospel music's 200-year history."

Using archival material, rare music recordings and interviews with the big names in the scene, a picture of the 200-year history of gospel music is sketched. Specific, characteristic songs from the genre, which is not just a music movement but is the music of a people, is considered; it is a religion and a culture in itself. It started when black slaves were forced to go to church, but music eventually became a form of expression for them that helped them survive.
