Reason plot

"the war between faith and rationality"

The struggle between faith and reason is universal and always topical. In India, the world's largest democracy, the ideology that led to the assassination of Mahatma Gandhi finally took power. Violence and intimidation are used to dismantle a secular democracy that once adhered to the values of the Enlightenment and nonviolence. While accusations of 'eating beef' or 'betrayal to Mother India' are thrown around, minorities and all those who stand up for the poor bear the brunt of the surging Hindu majority ideology and an accomplice media company. The Indian documentary maker Anand Patwardhan fearlessly investigates the extreme right, including at mass gatherings where fascism is normalized.
