Ransacked plot

Iceland's banking sector was deregulated and privatized in 2000-2003. In five years, the banks were 11 times the nation's GDP, with short-term financing and long-term assets. In October 2008, global capital markets plummeted and Iceland's banking sector collapsed. Ransacked tells the story of how wealth, hedge funds and the global economy affect the lives of ordinary people.
