The work of 41-year-old Brooklyn-based Joe Coleman ranges from Shock Art to gory performances, and from underground comics to soapbox sermons. He is someone who publicly detonates explosives strapped to his own body, predicts the end of the world and proclaims the serial killer a new breed of artist. His incredibly detailed paintings are populated by abnormalities, deformities and fatal injuries.
