Liming is a working-class neighborhood near Shanghai - China's richest city. Every year many young people leave their villages and move there. They are between seventeen and twenty, all from the countryside of Yunnan province, 2,500 km to the west, where the Yangtze River originates. These young Yunnanesen often live at their workplace, in dormitories, unhygienic rooms, or sometimes in small studios. They lack time and space to meet each other. So they communicate through QQ, MSN China. They live as adults but are juveniles.
