Prison Circle plot

First full-length documentary set in a Japanese prison. Crime is still partly taboo in Japan and it took director Kaori Sakagami six years to get permission to film at the Shimane Asahi Rehabilitation Center. Here, inmates follow a program of both individual therapy and group sessions. The different stories are divided into chapters and the crimes of the past are recreated using animations of sand.
