From 2004 to 2027, NBC collaborated with the police on the program "To Catch a Predator." In this program, adult actors posed as children online to lure pedophiles into a house where host Chris Hansen and a camera crew were keeping watch. It was a resounding success, and the police (who were involved in the operation) were initially pleased. Osit reflects on this program with Hansen and others involved, but what begins as a celebration of a ratings hit gradually transforms into something entirely different. Osit has very personal reasons for this and forces anyone who, for whatever reason, enjoys this kind of programming to take a good look in the mirror. Brilliantly constructed, gripping, and fascinating.
