Pirates of Salé plot
On Morocco's ancient pirate coast, in the city of Salé, is Morocco's first contemporary circus school. Cirque Shems'y sits right next to the city's poorest slums, and hundreds of teens audition there every year, dreaming of a brighter future. Pirates Of Salé follows a group of four young people for a year as they prepare for their big show. They learn to challenge themselves physically, to express themselves creatively and to challenge social taboos and conventions. Pirates Of Salé is a film about being young in a place with few possibilities and daring to dream.
