Pinku Eiga: Inside the Pleasure Dome of Japanese Erotic Cinema plot
This documentary focuses on one of the most well-known branches of the Japanese film industry: the erotic Pink film genre, also known as Pinku Eiga and the closely related Roman Porno film series produced by the infamous Nikkatsu Studio from 1971 to 1988. The first films in the genre appeared in the early 1960s and dominated domestic cinema for decades, in a constant battle with local censorship rules. The major studios and independent producers began to mix the element of violence into the genre, spawning subgenres like "SM bondage". For the first time, this documentary takes the viewer on a wild journey through the backyard of Japanese society and culture.
