Ping’an Yueqing plot
On December 27, 2010, village chief Qian Yunhui was killed in a traffic accident in Yueqing, eastern China, when he was crushed under the left front wheel of a huge red truck. At least that was the reading of the Chinese authorities, and the trucker was soon convicted. But just as quickly doubts arose; according to his family and many fellow villagers, there was talk of murder. Protests quickly mounted, especially online, where horrific photos of Qian Yunhui's crushed body appeared. Artist and social activist Ai Weiwei has teamed up on the case, displaying a wealth of sensitive material that the Chinese government would have liked to keep hidden.
