Who was Piero Vivarelli? Not a name that will immediately ring a bell with movie buffs. Most important achievement: the screenplay for the spaghetti western Django from 1966. The films that the Italian himself directed, from sexy comedies to horror and much more, have all but been forgotten. But Vivarelli also wrote lyrics and made a huge swing politically. After being active in a neo-fascist movement as a young man, he later became the only official non-Cuban member of the Cuban Communist Party.
