Phantoms of the Sierra Madre plot

Writer Lars makes a boyhood dream come true when he follows in the footsteps of Helge Ingstad, a famous Norwegian explorer, on an expedition in search of a disappeared Apache tribe in Mexico. Gradually, though, he wonders if it's okay to search for a tribe that doesn't want to be found? Or is that urge to explore simply an inherent part of our cultural tradition?
