Pequeñas Voces plot
"Pequeñas Voces"
In Colombia, some one million children are currently victims of armed conflicts that have been disrupting the country for years. Filmmaker Jairo Eduardo Carrillo spoke to a number of children and had them tell their life stories. He also had them draw memories of both the period before and after their confrontation with violence. Carrillo made this animation documentary based on the stories and drawings. The film gives a picture of the misery that war and violence bring in the lives of children, from the perspective of those same children. They are heartbreaking stories about a carefree childhood in the countryside that is suddenly cut short. By a bomb that rips off the limbs of a ten-year-old boy in a split second. Or by a guerrilla commander who placates young boys with money and beautiful promises and trains them deep in the jungle to become murderers against their will.
