Panama Canal plot

In 1880, France wanted to be the first to create a sea route via Panama, but the project was too ambitious and failed. The US took over the task and completed the construction of the canal. However, the construction had a high cost, both in dollars and in human lives. And so it became one of the most expensive construction projects in history.
