Ospina Cali Colombia plot
Luis Ospina, leader of the Grupo de Cali - a pioneering group of filmmakers, artists and writers from Cali, Colombia - was a fascinating, out-of-place figure in the Latin American film scene. He made feature films, but also proto-punk-style documentaries in which fact and fiction regularly overlapped. In 2018, filmmaker and teacher Jorge de Carvalho and his students spoke with Ospina in an obviously fake jungle about his life and work. That interview and the contributions of other Grupo de Cali members, including Carlos Mayolo and Andrés Caicedo, formed the basis for “Ospina Cali Colombia.” It is a completed, concise overview of Ospina's complete work, to which there is little to add, because he died a year later.
