Orania plot
The village of Orania is located in the middle of South Africa's inhospitable desert, the Karoo. The 800 inhabitants are all so-called Boers. They live on a private property that they purchased in 1991. People of other cultures or ethnic groups are not allowed to live or work in Orania. The Orangemen do not want to be part of the South African 'Rainbow Nation' that has developed in the country since the end of Apartheid. After all, there is a great fear in the country of being hit by crime, unemployment and social pressure. That is why they have decided to create a unique and independent home for themselves and to preserve their traditions. Some of the residents live for this ideal, others out of a sense of security and others out of desperation. Orania is a culturally homogeneous place in a radically multicultural country.
