Onze Man in Zuid-Afrika plot
The struggle against apartheid in South Africa is a regularly recurring topic in the history of the interdenominational broadcaster IKON. Filmmaker Anli Serfontein delves into this past and tells the story of her father, the South African journalist Hennie Serfontein (82). As a correspondent for IKON, NCRV and Trouw, among others, he was one of the most important sources for independent reporting from South Africa in the 1970s and 1980s. In conversations with him and his colleagues at the time in the Netherlands and South Africa - and with numerous archive recordings from this period - the documentary sketches an era of committed journalism, in which the search for the truth was nevertheless paramount; regardless of the dangers it entailed.
