Once the Dust Settles plot
Amatrice (Central Italy), Chernobyl and Aleppo: three places where the inhabitants felt safe, until – hit by disaster or by war – they turned into places of death and destruction. The film starts when these places are no longer in the news, when the dust has settled and tourists come to take a look. Central are the penetrating stories of people who survived the disaster or war and are now trying to rebuild their lives. Like the woman in Aleppo who before the war told tourists about Syria's rich history and archeology as a guide, and now works again as a guide, but now for disaster tourists, showing what the war years have done.
