Not Made for Politics plot

For Estonia-based filmmaker Volia Chajkouskaya, the Belarusian uprising of 2020 is not just news; it is a personal event. As tens of thousands of people in Minsk rise up against the brutal regime of Alexander Lukashenko and rally behind opposition leader Sviatlana Tsikhanouskaya, Volia feels the same tension. Unable to return home, she becomes both observer and participant. She organizes solidarity actions in Tallinn and gradually takes the lead role in her own film. Central to the story are three women, Sviatlana, Nadzeya, and Masha, whose husbands are imprisoned as political prisoners and who themselves become central figures of the movement. Their fearless resistance to the dictatorship mirrors Volia's own struggle to free herself from the inherited fear of silencing, oppression, and exile.
