Neo Rauch - Gefährten und Begleiter plot
Born in 1960, Neo Rauch is one of the most important contemporary German artists. Although he takes his inspiration from surrealist masters such as Giorgio de Chirico and René Magritte, the founder of the Neue Leipziger Schule movement refuses to call himself a surrealist. This documentary shows the painter in his studio and observes the critical exchange with his wife Rosa Loy, who is also a painter herself. In long conversations, the artist opens up in front of the camera for the first time in many years and provides information about his world, his past and his approach to art.
